Direct answer

Pet-sitter insurance cost depends on the business activity and selected protection. PCI advertises a starting price, but that is not a matched quote for a particular sitter. No complete business-specific price and operative liability-form comparison was verified here, so an all-in cost or cheapest-provider claim would be misleading.

The sections below show how to verify the answer and what can change it.

A solo sitter adds transport to home visits

Consider a hypothetical solo sitter who currently feeds cats in clients’ homes and plans to drive dogs to appointments. Before comparing prices, describe both activities accurately. Do not assume that wording suitable for home visits includes commercial transport, every employee, or every professional service. The application, schedule and exclusions need to agree with the actual work.

An attributable starting-price observation

Provider / publisher Advertised amount Time basis What it establishes
Pet Care Insurance (PCI) $29.43 Per month Published starting payment, not a business quote
Pet Care Insurance (PCI) $332.20 Per year Separate advertised annual starting amount

The PCI page was checked October 8, 2026; it has no displayed publication date. Quote-capture date, exact business location, revenue, staff, claims history, endorsements and fee treatment are not supplied for these amounts. Twelve payments of $29.43 equal $353.16 by arithmetic, not $332.20. The $20.96 difference does not establish a personal discount or payment-plan entitlement.

Activity-to-wording audit

Activity or exposure Question for the actual form Price record needed
Pet injured while entrusted to sitter What care/custody/control or animal-bailee protection applies? Selected limit, deductible and covered activities
Mistaken care instruction or medication service Does professional-liability wording include this service? Any restriction, extension or separate premium
Damage inside client’s home What property-in-care exclusion or extension applies? Property sublimit and selected endorsement
Driving a client’s animal What applies to transport and vehicle liability? Separate vehicle/transport terms where relevant
Staff or subcontractors Who is an insured and for which work? Headcount and worker classification used in quote

PCI’s product explanation distinguishes legal claims involving animals in the sitter’s care from emergency veterinary reimbursement. That distinction is worth checking in the operative wording; the marketing summary does not adjudicate either kind of claim.

Separate the annual premium from an incident

Suppose, solely as an invented exercise, a covered incident generates $2,000 of eligible expense, with a $250 deductible and an adequate applicable limit. A simple model paying the eligible loss minus the deductible would pay $1,750. If the activity is excluded, that model produces no promised payment at all. An advertised $332.20 annual premium would then be added separately to the retained loss only as budgeting arithmetic, not a PCI claim prediction.

Checklist

Ask for evidence before treating two totals as comparable

Same service inventory, territory, turnover and personnel.
Same occurrence/aggregate limits and any animal-specific sublimits.
Same deductible, defense-cost treatment and professional-service scope.
Annual total with taxes, fees and installment conditions shown.
Certificate names and dates reconciled with the policy schedule.

What remains unresolved

A certificate summarizes evidence of insurance; it should not be treated as a substitute for the contract’s exclusions and endorsements. No matched dated business quote set or full applicable liability form was captured. The starting-price observation cannot close those gaps or establish licensing requirements.

FAQ

Common questions

Does the client’s pet-health policy insure my business?

Do not assume it does. Review your business liabilities separately from the owner’s veterinary-expense insurance.

Can I compare the monthly and annual advertisements directly?

Only after identifying their payment conditions. Their displayed arithmetic differs, and the final business offer is still needed.
